Sunshine91 Posted December 1, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2006 I thought this might fall under the category "beauty" & the ladies here are the best. I'm new to using a medical patch & am having a really hard time removing the adhesive when changing it. I've tried alcohol & nail polish remover with acetone. Neither are working. I had thought just showering would take care of it, but obviously that's not working, either. Anyone got any good ideas? Thanks muchly.
cruisin'gal Posted December 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2006 In the hospital we use a product called uni-solve, it comes in individual wipes like alcohol wipes. It removes adhesives from the skin, you may want to try a medical supply store to see if they carry it. Hope this helps, Laura
GORDONCHICK Posted December 1, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 1, 2006 Baby oil and vaseline sometimes work as well.
trish1c Posted December 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 1, 2006 I was able to get off the adhesive with soap & a scrubby (one of those puffy things made of soft mesh). It took a bit of elbow grease but not so much that I rubbed my skin raw.
Sunshine91 Posted December 3, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted December 3, 2006 Trish - I tried just the scrubbie thing in the shower, thinking that would take care of it, but nope. :p And now I've got raw parts. :o Gordonchick - We were thinking some kind of solvent - the baby oil sounds like a good idea. I'll try that tonight. Don't know why it never occurred to one of us! Laura - I live in the middle of nowhere (although well populated with retirees  ). Don't think there are any med-supply stores around here. If the baby oil & vaseline don't work, I might be back. :) Ladies, thank you.

judy&steve Posted December 3, 2006 #7 Share Posted December 3, 2006 I used to use an estrogen patch. I never had problems with it until they obviously changed the adhesive agent. I think you should either contact the pharmaceutical company or find out if you can change to a different product. You are could be allergic to the adhesive. --Judy

cruisinelsewhere Posted December 3, 2006 #9 Share Posted December 3, 2006 There is a product called Goo-Gone...sold at most Home Depots, kitchen stores, Walmart etc. It is a citrus based oil and works like a dream...the same product that is in the wipes they use in the hospital.
