Are Ft. Lauderdale & Port Everglades the same place?

We are sailing on the Lirica on Feb. 11, 2007 out of Ft. Lauderdale to the deep Caribbean (San Juan, St. Maarten, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia, Tortola & Samana). This is our first time sailing from a Florida port. We are flying into Ft. Lauderdale airport. We would greatly appreciated knowing where our cruise terminal is located. I've heard the name Port Everglades mentioned. Are they the same place? How far of a cab ride is it? If anyone has been to any of the above mentioned destinations we would love hearing about what you enjoyed and what you would avoid. Although we have cruised five times before it was never on an MSC ship. Thank you for any information you think would be beneficial. :)

Port Everglades is the name of the port in Ft Lauderdale. It is only about a 5 min drive from the airport. They are right next to each other.

We have only cruise Princess in the past but always from Lauderdale. We live about an hour and half north so of course we drive and park at the port.

If you have any time to spend in Ft Lauderdale the area of Las Olas along the river is very nice.
