NCL Sun - cabin and balconies 101

We are sailing next September. Its our first cruise. I would like to gather as much information as possible about the differences in Balcony cabins. For example, NCL told me that the cabins on deck 8 BC were exactly the same as Deck 10 BA. But if you count the number of cabins to the elevators, the deck 8 has 2 more which means they must be smaller?

Yes I do have too much time on my hands and now I am just plain curious!

Almost positive the drawings/floorplans on NCL's site are not "to scale". My mom was in 1209 and the room was not shaped like the deckplan shows.

If you look at the picture of the ship, you can tell that the boat has less room on Deck 10 than it has on Deck 8...the boat is longer on Deck 8, hence more rooms than on Deck 10. The BA's are supposed to be in the most "prime" location on ship, but if a BC is cheaper, hey, it doesn't appear they are smaller.

Hope that helps. You can look at a picture of the ship on NCL's page...just notice that the ship tapers in on upper floors, and widens on down below that.
