kakalina Posted December 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2006 Just got back from a wonderful cruise on the Mexican Riviera. Through the shore ex office on the Zaandam we purchased a snorkel Santa Maria Cove in Cabo San Lucas. The tour operaters were the worst. The snorkel itself wasn't great but it was OK. After they gave us the drinks they passed out the comment cards and then collected them right away. Immediately after collecting them they got all in your face about tipping. I mean really obnoxious. They starting making fun of the passenger in Spanish, calling some of us fat cows, and others dumb Americans. They told one couple that their tip wasn't big enough and that their kids would go hungry and it was the passengers fault. The topper was as we were exiting their boat the tour operater said "Thanks for the tip A**holes"! Really, that is what they said. We did go to the front desk right away and complain both verbally and in writing. Then when we got home we sent a letter to our TA at HAL and got an immediate response. They refunded half our costs and offered us dinner in the Pinnacle Grill at a later time. This was very nice and impressed us; but I hope they stop using that tour company. We never did get the actual name of the boat or the company itself.
river_sand_bar2 Posted December 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 5, 2006 We have done that snorkling before on past vacations to Cabo. There are usually 2 groups that do it... do either of these ring a bell?? Pez Gato or Jungle Cruise? Was there Jungle painting on the boat?? We are heading back down there in July and would like to know which one treated you so badly. One good thing to do... is speak a few words in Spanish, then the operators know you know the language and watch what they say. I Have found that has worked in the past.
