Scuba with Celebrity Constellation

JCA

Recommended Posts

My wife and I are certified divers and booked on the Celebrity Constellation on 12/18/2006. We hope to book a few dives. Does anyone know which operators Celebrity uses in Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Aruba? How are they? Any recommendations for good operators in these ports especially for afternoon dives?

In Aruba, X uses Redsail. They are a large boat operator the conducts typical cruise excursion dives of limited bottom time where it is a follow the leader type of dive, Yuck. Personally, as an advanced diver, I would never dive with them. If you are a once a year kind of diver that wants to follow the DM, them they might be an OK choice for you. Certainly, going with the ship's excursion is easier to arrange even though it is typically more expensive. The knowledgeable Doc Vikingo offers his recommendation for Aurba dive operators in This Thread from http://www.scubadiving.com. I'd trust his opinion, he has never given me bad advice.

In Grand Cayman, X's parent company, RCI uses Redsail there too, so I would imagine X does as well. For diving in GCM, I recommend http://www.neptunesdivers.com 8 divers max on their boat. You can follow the guide if you choose, and they don't limit your bottom time. Casey is a really nice person too.

In Cozumel, I have no idea who the dive op for X is. I suspect it is http://www.sanddollarsports.net/ Haven't gone with them, so it wouldn't be accurate for me to give an opinion. I personally recommend http://www.bluextseadiving.com The owner, Christi, is a friend and gives excellent customer service.

The rest of my Cozumel choices are in This Post.

hope this helps,

B

Thanks for the advise and links. I have contacted Neptune divers for Grand Cayman. I know a few good operators in Cozumel including my favorite Roland at divecozumel.net and will also check with the ones you mentioned. The problem with Aruba and less so with Cozumel is that we dock at 10:00 so it has to be two afternoon dives so there are fewer options. Its around Christmas so several operators are booked by groups. I may book through the cuiseline for those.

Enjoy your next trip.
