smile7040 Posted December 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2006 I'm on the 12/18 sailing of the Pride of Hawaii. Since we disembark in the morning of the 25th and our flight is late that night, I was planning on spending all day at the Arizona Memorial. However, it is closed on Christmas day. Can anyone give me ideas on what to do for the entire day.
carlakruz Posted December 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2006 We are sailing the following week and have booked a hotel on the beach. Our flight is not until 11:15 pm to Tennessee. Pearl Harbour is closed on New Years Day also.
HawaiiCruisers Posted December 16, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 16, 2006 Rent a car - and visit the free sights Pali Lookout China Town Iolani Palace - Free on the outside King Kamehameha Statue See the light house Climb Diamond Head See the Blow Hole Walk Waikiki Beach Visit Historic Haleiwa Visit the Valley of the Temples Visit Punchbowl (National Veterans Memorial of the Pacific) Visit Botanical Gardens Walk Historic Honolulu Tour The State Capitol Go to Bishop Museum Tour Mission Houses Eat at a Shrimp Truck on the North Shore Visit Hanauma Bay Drive around the island starting on H-1 head east to Hwy 72, Hwy 83, Hwy 99. This drive will take you to Diamond Head Hawaii Kai Blow Hole Makapu'u Lighthouse Sandy Beach Check the beach at Lanikai/Kailua Turtle Bay Sunset Beach - Maybe the waves will be big really big. Pupukea Waimea Bay Haleiwa Beach Park (Bay Watch Hawaii Filmed in this Location), Lost is filmed nearby. Haleiwa Dole Pinapple Pavalion Wahiawa Mililani Town Ko'olina Beach Park Put all valuables is trunk of car --- and do not open when parking to retrieve something or to put something in. Try to keep car in view whenever possible. Do not have the inside of the car look like a tourist car. If you go around the island and visit various spots as you go before you know it your day will be gone and it will be time for dinner and return the rental car. For dinner avoid the airport area as there are not any good places to eat close by. Stop for dinner further from the airport. Pearl City, Aiea, Mililani. For casual, family friendly, inexpensive, and where many of the locals eat try any Zippy's and I am sure that they will have a decent Xmas dinner for a good price. There is a good Zippy's in Kapolei, Mililani, Wahiawa, Pearl City, Aiea. Don & Beth Kapolei, HI
