CoolHandChris Posted December 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2006 First ever cruise is coming up (WHOO HOO!) and Calica (never heard of it) is one of the ports. I am high on the idea of ruins if they are magnificent but don't want any part of it if its going to be rubble. Any other ideas? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks, Chris
wdowns9 Posted December 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2006 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=187 Play de Carmen/Calica are basically the same. Calica is a working quarry while PDC is the next town up which you need to take a cab. In Sept we took a cab to Tulum and toured the ruins then made arrangements with Edaventures to go to Coba for tour the ruins. It cost us $40 to Tulum and $95 from Tulum-Coba-Calica. We made it back with an hour to spare. We were the first off the ship and first to arrive in Tulum. Our expedition was to tour ruins. Make sure you bring plenty of water as it is hot. We also brought bananas to bring out the igunas in Tulum. Largest one we saw was 3 1/2' head to tail. Managed to get 10 of them once they new food was available. If you have any ??'s just ask. You can travel on your own much cheaper then the ship. Total cost was less then $160 for 3 people including admission charges. Rick
