CoolHandChris Posted December 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2006 Can't wait for my first cruise. I've done my due diligence on the excursions but I would like to know a little more about the ship. How big is it? Is it big enough to avoid sea sickness? Not good on water. What games are there on the deck? Shuffleboard (keep envisioning shuffleboard for some reason), basketball, anything?? The gambling- is there poker as in REAL POKER (Hold'em, stud, etc), or is the "poker" they offer Caribbean Stud and crap like that? Thanks for all your help. This forum has been a great resource! Chris I can't help you out with that ship.. but I can say that it doesn't matter the size of the ship if you are gonna get sea sick you will.. I would take precautions.. if you have read these boards you know Ginger works for some NOT ALL.. take another alternative like Bonine.. that is my input.. and have a fantastic time:D

suezducruz Posted December 16, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2006 Check out the carnival website for information, pictures, and layout of the ship. She was my first cruise as well, and I got hooked! I think the Inspiration is waht you would consider a mid-size ship, roughly 70,000 tons and 850 feet long. Also cruiseclues.com could be helpful to you. Have a great time!
sjcruiser Posted December 16, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 16, 2006 I was on the Imagination, the Fascinations sister ship in November. I started taking seasickness pills two days before the cruise (my first). After the second night I was forgetting to take them , but didn't feel a thing. The Fascination was with us in port in Grand Cayman. The basketball area was on the stern of the ship on one of the top decks, I don't play bball, but there were a lot of pickup games going on. Sometimes the court was empty or kids were up there shooting around, but it was not crowded at all. I didn't see any shuffleboard games, but the mini-golf was fun and that was not crowded either. Plenty of card games going on in the casino. Get to the port early, if your rooms not ready, it's a great time to start exploring the ship and then grab lunch. You'll have the layout of the ship figured out in the first 24 hours or so. Even though it holds 2000 people, it's easy to navigate. Have fun and enjoy yourself. Be sure to write a review when you return.

We are sailing on 1/1/07 - We will try to leave the ship in the same shape that we found it, just for you! You will have a B L A S T !!! By the way, you may want to double check your sail date, as the Inspiration sails on Jan 6th (not the 5th) - at least for 2007!! Here is a link to a roll call for your sailing: (assuming you are not talking about the 1/5/08 departure!) http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=428462 Tom
momofzeke Posted December 16, 2006 #8 Share Posted December 16, 2006 Welcome to Cruise Critic, Chris! :D If you are worried about motion sickness, take along a variety of remedies. Someone already mentioned ginger tablets and bonine. Also, go to Wal-Mart and pick up a bottle of Motioneze liquid drops. It is a tiny bottle of herbal liquid that you dab behind your ears. Works really well for me to combat both sea-and air-sickness. Has kind of a funky smell, but you get used to it quickly, and it really does help. Good luck, and enjoy your first cruise. Nothing like the first one! :)
