casinos open while cruising hawaii ?

I just read on another thread, that the casinos are not open while you are cruising hawaii, is this correct?? are they open sea days ? we will be on infinity 14 day from san diego..

any info id appreciate..

Yes, they are open every night when not in port.

When I went on the Norwegian Star they did not have a casino because the ship was specifically for Hawaii. We were told that even if they had one they could not open it because you are still in the U.S. I don't know if things have changed. Hope for you they have I missed the casino!

The NCL ships are registered in the USA with an American crew.X ships are registered in Panama or elsewhere.Taxes and labor laws don't apply to foreign ships until they reach port.Thats my understanding of it.

Last March on Summit casinos were open in Hawaii while sailing between the islands. Not when in port.

They told you this just to satisfy you. The casinos ARE open except when docked for non-American registered ships.

Maybe... but the ship did not at the time I went have a casino on board. I don't know if it now has one.

That's because the state of Hawaii doesn't allow gaming at all. The Pride of Hawaii, and other NCLA American-registered ships that begin and end cruises in Hawaii are prohibited from having a casino period on board.

 

Foreign ships, like Celebrity's Bahamian-flagged ships are not subject to Hawaii's gaming prohibition when they are not docked in Hawaii. NCLA's Hawaii-to-Hawaii "American" cruises are always subject to it.
