how far is honolulu airport from the harbor?

How far is the honolulu airport from where we dock in honolulu on a cruise? and yes i googled the map, but i cant tell from that...

just wondering since we wil be renting a car at the airport ,,,

are there any rental places near the port or should we just go to the airport?

any info id appreciate, weve been to oahu 2 times but cant remember the area at all...

Do your Oahu car rentals at the "airport" locations. There are a couple of threads from a week or so ago that tell horror stories about some of the "in-town" agencies. If all you are doing is going back and forth to the port, taxis are the best bet.

Definitely don't rent a car if your just going from airport to ship. You will spend more time trying to rent the car and in rental car shuttle then the whole taxi ride to the ship.

yeah we will take a taxi to the airport and then rent a car, and drive around the whole island, we did that the last time we were there in 2001 ,,

 

that is the intial plan hopefully ,

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get off the ship and find a shuttle, then get to the airports and get the rental car? Just wondering if it takes a lot of time out of the day, and how early to reserve the cars. We'll probably rent in Maui, Hilo and Honolulu.

Which do you think is the best (and least expensive) way to get from the airport to a Waikiki hotel? The shuttle fares vary as do the taxi fares and it's hard to figure out if one company is more reliable than another. Thanks

Last weekend we took a taxi from the airport to the Aloha Tower (where the ships dock) and it cost a little more than $20.
