babychick Posted December 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2006 Is this taboo on this board? It looks like it would be neat, any feedback would be helpful. My group is a little too ADD for snorkeling and isn't dive certified, so snuba looks promising. Also, any recommendations for snuba in Grand Turks? KTE Posted December 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2006 It's great! We've done it 3 times: Molokini, Key West and Kauai. There is a dive Master in the water with you the entire time. I'm not a strong swimmer and am usually a "surface snorkeler" so it was wonderful to be able to get "up close and personal" with the fish and coral formations. No dive experience or certification needed. The tank is on a float and the tether to the regulator is about 15 - 20 feet long. Sorry, don't know about the Grand Turks. Right now we're trying to find someone who offers SNUBA in Tahiti for our trip next October. You might also try to search for "helmet dive" excursions: They look like old style diving helmets with windows on at least 3 sides and attached to tanks on the boat that allow you to walk on the ocean floor. babychick Posted December 29, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted December 29, 2006 Thanks, We did the helmet dive. The snuba was booked already. They say it usually it the first one sold out. Helmet diving was nice. An underwater camera is a must! Grand Turks was SUPER!!!!
