Puppies in Caribou crossing?

We are renting a car in Skagway and driving up to Caribou crossing. Can we see the puppies without going on a cart ride? Does anyone know how much it is to do this--if its possible? I read somewhere that you have to pay the museum admission. I don't know if thats correct. Thanks for your help!:)

There is no charge to visit with the puppies. Some staff apparently insist that you have to pay the museum admission to go into the dog yard - I just walk through the unmanned gate to Michelle and Ed's dog yard. The wildlife museum, though, is very impressive and well worth a visit.

Well, these folks are in business to make money, after all! Why not go ahead and crack loose with the few bucks admission and admire the great museum and all the other things to do, including puppies, with a clear conscience?? Do you really want to cuddle a puppy without helping pay for his dog food??;)

Better yet, buy a sponsorship for one of the trail dogs! Or best of all, try the cart rides. They are priced about half what they are in Skagway or Juneau and are loads of fun!

Just to make up your mind for sure, here is a picture of my 93 y o Aunt Ruth cuddling a puppy. She said it was the best thing on the whole cruise!:D

Thanks for the response from everyone. We would be happy to give a donation to the dogs. We did not want to do the cart ride because we have a dog sled tour scheduled in Juneau. My two children wanted to see the puppies at Caribou just in case the tour in Juneau is cancelled. We love dogs (have 3) and thought this way at least we can say we saw some sled dogs somewhere.

That happened to us. We didn't have time for the museum or the cart ride and I think they wanted to charge us $7 each just to see the puppies. We didn't have a lot of time and only planned on being there for a few minutes, so we just left. :(
