Ardastra Gardens

As we are on a rather tight budget WRT any shore excursions while in Nassau(we have a 4 & 6 yr old along with us), I have done some research and Ardastra Gardens may just be our best bet.

Has anyone been here that can give any recommendations as to how to get there from the Cruise Ships? Apparently a bus (#10) will take you there or a taxi....Is the bus safe and any idea on cost? Is a taxi a better bet? again, any idea on cost?

Also, how far is it from the cruise ships?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

but never made it to ardastra gardens even though we had planned to. looks like it would be something the kids would enjoy. you can catch the bus a couple blocks from the dock, and it is $1 each person to get there.

taxi's will be $5 each way per person. the gardens are not but a couple miles from the ship. you should be able to find a map of nassau that will have all the attractions listed on it. at the dock there is a building you go thru that has brochures. we really had a good time there, and it is certainly safe to walk around most anywhere during the day. we were there for two days and went all over. at night it would be like any other city, you wouldn't want to walk in an area without other people around, but there is a lot of activity near the port area.

go and have fun, we did and we did not take any excursions either. just winged it on our own.

www.ardastra.com gives you all the information you could possibly want or need on visiting the Gardens, Zoo etc.

Even lists priceof admission. It even sounds like something we might entertain taking in when we cruise to Nassau in Jan. 2007.

Plus if you go on your own you can take your time! Transportation is very affordable when you arrive in Nassau right at the port, just negotiate the price for your entire party before you board.

Gotta love these boards!
