momofteens Posted July 22, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2004 We're booked on the Voyager 7/30. Is it possible to just drive over to Bayonne and see the ship the Sunday before we leave? Or is it impossible to see the ship unless you are booked for that particular cruise?
grod19 Posted July 22, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2004 You can drive over and look at it but they wont let you onboard or anywhere past where you drop off passengers
momofteens Posted July 22, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted July 22, 2004 Thanks for the info. We'll be in the neighborhood and want to get the kids psyched a week before.
abridalmaven Posted July 23, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2004 There is a small shopping center across the inlet, just before you get to the pier coming from the Bayonne Bridge. It is a great viewing area.
nyisles Posted July 23, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2004 If you take the Turnpike exit you'll see the signs for the port. They will direct you over an overpass that curves to your left just past the tolls. Follow that overpass but stay strainght as you come down off the overpass instead of following the signs to the port and RT440. You'll see signs for "waterfront viewing area" or something like that. That's the closest you'll get to the ship without entering the port. The shopping center mentioned above is also good but not as close. Here is a link to some pictures I took at both sites. The first set is from the shopping center and the second set is from the other area I described.
