newbie2468 Posted January 4, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2007 Is there an ATM on board the Crown and if so is the fee $$$ ? I was looking at the tipping boards and thinking about the amount of 1.00's... I liked the idea of large bills and then exchanging them. I like to gamble (a little) and hate the thought of a 3% charge.. so you just bring a good amount of cash? Sorry for the questions.. first cruise and want to be sure to "get it right." Also, what is the average tip for room service? I know this is on top of the money taken out each day for the "tip-pool" Thanks:D
cactusrose Posted January 4, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2007 There is an ATM in the casino but I have never used it so don't know what the fees would be. We always bring Travelers checks. They are easy to cash with no charge at the casino or the Pursers desk.
Tigger B Posted January 4, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2007 Try using $2.00 bills for tipping when you feel you need to. I took them on my cruise and they were very well recieved...I hate pulling out a dollar bill (cheap) or then you pull out a 5 and I think that's too much...(cheap). A $2.00 bill is a novelty to whoever gets it. They look at it and say' "gee,...Thanks..." I probably still get called a cheapskate, but if they do a good job maybe I'll let them have another one...Works great for Cabbies... Brian. Jay_NH Posted January 4, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2007 From Stuart Mclean, who is a cruese ship employee that blogs about cruising. Please do not give $2.00 bills or large bills. Cruise ship employees exchange money to their country of origin curency and the exchange houses refuse $2.00 bills or charge a tremendous fee for exchange. They suspect counterfiet on large bills also. I can't find the exact blog that he explains this on but he explains it much better. The best is to give ones and fives. dsfitz Posted January 4, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2007 On the Caribbean Princess, the ATM fee in the casino was about $5.50 - which is still less than the 3% charge if you withdraw $400.
