cruisene Posted January 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2007 Sailing on the Serenade 03FEB. Looking for the perfect Barbados Beach. Suggestions are welcome. Very interested in Accra, Sandy and Crane. If anyone has been there recently would love to hear from you. We like to swim a little, snorkel a little and drink some local beer. If anyone has idea of taxi cost from cruise pier that would also be very helpful!

GMoney Posted January 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2007 Crane. Hands down the nicest beach I've ever been to with incredible pink sand. Be sure to have lunch at the hotel.
mrsbojamp Posted January 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2007 I agree - Crane is best! It's been a while since I've been there, but it was a spectacular beach.

Eileen G Posted January 6, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2007 We were just at Crane Beach in Dec. It is a small beautiful beach. There are beach chair and umbrella vendors but thats it. The only place to get food or drinks are at the Crane Hotel up on the cliff. We had lunch up there and it was spectacular. We had a table overlooking the beach. Of course lunch is a little pricey but we figured the view was worth it. We road the public bus from downtown. It was 1.00 each however it was an hour ride in a very crowded bus. The only way we knew where to get off was to ask the local people on the bus to tell us. It was an adventure riding the bus there and back but it is not for everyone. SeaBaby Posted January 6, 2007 #8 Share Posted January 6, 2007 Although Crane beach is very scenic, we discovered the Boatyard a few cruises ago. It is about 5 to 10 minutes from the port by taxi, costs approx. U.S.$12 p.p. entry fee. You get lounge chairs, umbrella, and your first drink included; the beach is beautiful. There is a pier with a swinging rope from which you can jump into the water, a trampoline, and various other water toys. A lovely beach bar, and restaurant. It's a lot of fun. It is also popular with the ship's crew. We usually spend the better part of the day there and then do a little shopping downtown before heading back to the ship.
