vanrhyn Posted January 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2007 Hello: I am going on a cruise out of new york in April and we stop in Fort Lauderdale for more people to get on board, or for some to leave. Who goes first? The disembarking people, the people for an excursion or is just basically who comes first?
springtxbill Posted January 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2007 Due to the Jones Act, there should bve no passengers getting on in New York and getting off in Florida.:)
mamamo65 Posted January 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2007 Okay, I'll bite. What is the Jones Act?
wrp96 Posted January 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2007 The Passenger Services Act (commonly referred to as the Jones Act) prevents foreign ships from transporting passengers between two US ports without a stop in a distant foreign port in between. Since the cruise starts in New York and the next port if Ft. Lauderdale, no one would be able to end their cruise in Ft. Lauderdale without violating the Jones Act.
