Tigers2 Posted January 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2007 We will be in Mo Bay in April. We would like to try the Dunn's River Falls!! Here are my questions.....: 1. How far is it from MO Bay (time)? 2. What are our options of transportation and cost! (Taxi/Bus)? 3. What is the cost of the Falls? All insight is welcomed!! Floflegs Posted January 6, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2007 Don't know how long you are in Mo Bay for but we were there for a short time so opted to go to mayfield Falls instead of Dunn's River as it is quite a long way to DR. Even to Mayfield was aquite a trek but it was wonderful. No crowds and a very patient guide just ofr the 4 of us. We really had a ball. Worth going to in my opinion. vmom Posted January 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2007 I wouldn't go to Dunn's River falls if you are docking in MoBay. Save it for another cruise. Its a bit of a distance and the roads just aren't that great. Its frankly not worth the time, effort and risk you'd be taking in going so far from the port at MoBay. When we were there the entrance fee was $15. It was fun and I would recommend it if you were going to port in Ocho Rios, but really not worth the time and effort if you are docking in MoBay. TheWog Posted January 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2007 Dunns River Falls is over 2 hours one way from Mo'Bay. If you decide to do it, I suggest you book through your ship so you are ensured to return without the ship leaving. If you book privately you are on your own. I would not suggest it, but I have done the Falls so easy for me to say. I think the Falls are a must do at least once, so if this will be your only shot, then you should attempt to see what you can do, but as mentioned book through your ship and make sure they guarantee to wait for your tour if you are late. This will usually include lunch as well. Falls admission will more than likely be included with your excursion price, but if not, it is currently $15 to enter. Tipping a guide is extra. jerjer43 Posted January 10, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2007 We just returned from our cruise. We went from Mo' Bay to Dunn's Falls. It is about 1 hour and 45 min. to the falls, but it is well worth the trip. We had a great time. We booked our own trip with Marva Shaw www.knowjamaica.com. She was much cheaper than the ship. Our guide was Richard, and he was awesome. He took such good care of us. He met us at the terminal, and took us to the falls. We left our things in the vehicle, and did the falls. At the top of the falls, he met us again with fresh delicious fruit to eat. On our way back he stopped several time to treat us to Jamaican food, and interest areas. We wanted to do a little shopping, and he took us to a shopping area that was not pushy with people, just helpful people. He had us back to the ship in plenty of time. I would just be certain I let him know when I had to be back and remind him if necessary. He made Jamaica one our best memories from the cruise. I highly recommend this agency.:)
