De-Magnetizing S & S card accidently

Just read a thread on using a magnetic card for the cabin safes and it reminded me of what happened on our last cruise. My friend (in the cabin next to ours) used her S & S card to get into her cabin before dinner and it worked fine...after dinner she went back to the cabin and it wouldn't work.

She took the card to the purser's desk to get it fixed and immediately they figured out the problem. She had put the card in her purse to go to dinner and the purse had a magnetic clasp...it demagnitized her card! Just thought this information might come in handy to future cruisers! :)

LOL--You could have been talking about me, except it took me 3 jaunts to the pursers desk (at 2:00 or so in the morning) to figure it out. The magnetic clasp on my evening purse was the culprit as well. The clasp has NOW been replaced with a velcro strip

Spoilt

I had a purse with the same problem - magnetic strip to hold your keys in place.

The problem: I was putting disks in my purse to carry files to school (I'm the instructor)

I was soooo embarrased when I figured out why I could never get files from home to school! :o
