tap & dap Posted January 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2007 Was just looking at a coverage map and seems Nextel do not show coverage in Alsaka, does anyone have any experience with this? Who's phones have worked in Alaska? Thanks for any help you can give us.
cruisergrandma Posted January 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2007 Don't know about Nextel but, my Cingular phones worked everywhere we went.

Rainbowsunshine Posted January 7, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2007 Used our Verizon when we were there and had service in all ports and quite a while after we left ports as well.
halbfl2 Posted January 8, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 8, 2007 Did anyone have Sprint? Is it free coverage, or are you roaming?
tap & dap Posted January 8, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted January 8, 2007 Thanks sounds like just about every other system will work.
CanCanCase Posted January 8, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 8, 2007 Sprint phones work great, although I don't know if it's regular coverage, "extended area" or roaming coverage. I know in past seasons, the NexTel walkie-talkie feature didn't work up here, but now that Sprint has picked that up, who knows? Note that no matter what the carrier, you'll only have coverage when you're in or near the major ports, and a few hours in certain passages while cruising. -Case
