Constellation Christmas cruise Dec 18th 2006

Just returned from the Dec 18th. cruise aboard the Constellation. Unfortunately I cannot give it a great review, something very off, food very disappointing, beef tough and fish overcooked and dry, ceasar salads washed downed and flat, desserts boring! The baked alaska parade did not happen and was not communicated to the waiters. They did not understand what was happening and were confused as to what was the problem; even our Ass't Maitre'D did not know why. Captain's Club Hostess, very disappointing, probably the worst we have every experienced, too busy flitting about and not dealing with the passengers.

The Restaurant Manager was very helpful and accommodating as well as the Hotel Manager and the Concierge, all three were pleasant and attentive.:)

The piers Celebrity selected were not good , most on the far outer edges of town.:confused:

The demographics were somewhat different as well, people coming to formal nights in the dining room in jeans and t-shirts and being accepted.

On the upside, the Celebrity singers and dancer were very good and the Cirque shows were entertaining. Being fed up with terrible entrees we reserved the Ocean Liner Specialty restaurant, that was well worth the extra. The service was excellent and food was served to perfection.

The excursion we booked in Panama, the Monkey Watch, was without question one of the top experiences we have had. Our tour guide was very good and personable. Great value for the price and would highly recommend it to future cruisers.

One of our fellow passengers made a comment to us which held true for the entire cruise. "If you had to judge the cruise solely on the service of the wait staff and cabin stewarts it would get top recommendations, but the service of the rest of the ship was mediocre at best.

This was disappointing to us since we were very much looking forward to being back on board the "Connie" since we had done two back-to-back 14 day cruises on her about a year and a half ago and had an absolutely perfect cruise experience.

How very disappointing for you. One builds up anticipation for a cruise and has certain expectations. These cruises are far too expensive for the line not to provide the standards of food, ambience and service that it built its reputation on. Would you go back to Celebrity/Constellation or will you choose other lines?

Couldn't agree more. Nickos Batistatos, the Hotel Manager for a long time, is sorely missed.

We have now become RCCL fans. The Concierge Lounge is a big plus. If you are Elite on Celebrity, you will qualify for that. Just come off the Radiance of the Seas New Year cruise. The food was Excellent!! We were very surprised. And Chops and Portofino are super. More relaxed than Ocean Liners - not so formal - but steaks equal to Mortons etc!! We had a great time. The first production show was simply stunning!!
