soup vs. juice

Hi all,

On our Hawaii cruise on Summit I tried a few of the chilled soups at dinner. They were quite tasty. However, I am wondering, what is the difference between a chilled soup and just juice or juice smoothie?

I often wonder about that too.... I went on a cruise and had a chilled strawberry soup, it tasted like strawberry Quick disolved in milk. It was tasty, but I could've made that at home!

A juice is the juice of the fruit.

A chilled soup is made from pureed fruit and other ingredients usually including some form of dairy product - cream, sour cream, etc.

The ones I tried didn't have any dairy products in them. Nonetheless, how is that different from a fruit smoothie? Mind you, I'm not being critical, just curious.
