flyingandcruising Posted January 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2007 Where are the best places to snorkel in Aruba and Curacao? Should I book something through an excursion? or can I just go there and snorkel? If I need to book something, what company is the best? Thanks to all that reply, Happy cruisin'
Jeff A Posted January 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2007 No question...do the snorkel excursion to the wreck of the Antilla...we did it in May 05 and will surely do it this coming March....INCREDIBLE experience.

10X Posted January 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2007 In Curacao we like to go to Caracas Bay. This is usually offered on a ship's excursion but might not actually name the bay. Instead, you might find wording about snorkeling over a sunken tugboat. You can find some pictures of this area at: http://www.sunfield.smugmug.com Select "Cruise 2006" Select "Curacao Snorkeling" Denny
Arubalisa Posted January 11, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2007 Curacao Our family spent the day at Playa PortoMari http://www.playaportomari.com/ a week ago Saturday. My brother and nephew snorkeled the entire day and kept raving how fabulous it was. They have a snorkel trail highlighted with reefballs http://www.playaportomari.com/underwater.html Dh and I decided to poke around the dive shop and the next thing we knew we are booked on a guided dive tour. I didn't even have my c card with me, but they looked it up on the computer and away we went. Fabulous dive and one of my all time favorites. Aruba For a full day snorkel and sail, we had a great experience in September with only 9 of us aboard the the Tranquilo http://www.tranquiloaruba.com/. This full day is usually done only 2 days/week. Perhaps if you can get a group together Captain Anthony could book you as a charter. Website says the price is $150 per hour. Divide that by 12 and it comes out to $12.50 an hour per person. Not bad for a private like sailing/snorkeling experience. I have never heard anything bad about Robertos http://www.robertoswatersports.com/. You could do this and then hang out on the beach afterwards. Again, if a bunch of you got together you could most likely do a private charter. Two other popular sail/snorkel excursions are the Octopus http://www.octopusaruba.com/ and http://www.jollypirates.com Also see the threadInfo & Ideas for Snorkeling in Aruba
