Summit - Cabin Help

I am very new to cruising and I am just establishing my way around these boards. We've been offered cabin 6039 (penthouse deck) on Summit for a cruise from Vancouver to San Diego. Is this cabin ok in your opinion? It seems quite near the front but we do have a balcony. How can I tell which side of the ship we are on as I do think you need to be on the landside. I am so sorry if this is a basic question!

If this is a terrible cabin, I think we might postpone until May of 2008.
