Belize is hot so if you do ruins be prepared to sweat. Snorkel in Cozumel find one that includes rum punch or something like it. You pay more if you book through the cruise line. Can you still drink on board over the age 18?
almitra Posted January 14, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2007 DEFINITELY cave tube in Belize--it is the thing to do there. You will sorely be missing out if you don't do it at least once.
markham6 Posted January 14, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2007 Ucane, I HIGHLY recommend going to the Belikin Beer factory in Belize! A group of us went in early January and it was awesome. $10 gets you a tour and 45 minutes of UNLIMITED BEER at the factory bar! Get a local guide to take you. If beer isn't your thing, do the cave tubing. Hope that helps.
spirit bear Posted January 14, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2007 Hi Ucane We did the same itinerary last January and we had a great trip. In Guatamala the people are amazing. We didn't book thru the Sun, but just walked off the ship, found another couple that wanted to see the Waterfalls with us and we booked a private cab. He was great. Went all the way to the falls with us, carried our bags, made sure we had bottles of water, found us a guide (you can't go into the park without a guide) and pointed out amazing things to us. Be prepared to see the Federalies there - they protect the plants in the waterfall area. After the tour was over (about 2.5 hrs) he was supposed to take us back to the pier, but wanted to show us his home, so took us to Peurto Bario (??sp??) and drove us all thru town. All this for $20 US per person. We tipped him another $20 and he was very touched by it. The people there have not seen many cruise ships and put on a beautiful day for the Sun when we were there. Have a great time.

Thoth Posted January 31, 2007 #8 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Last year I did the Xuantunich mayan site, and this May I'm doing the Jungle buggy and Mayan Cave tour.
jc42 Posted February 1, 2007 #9 Share Posted February 1, 2007 Hey, Ucane -- How did you get hooked up with the Belikin factory tour? The only information we have gotten is the $100 per person city/factory tour. Our family did Xuantunich (sp?) and had a great time. Lots to see, climb, photograph.
