Sun on the Balcony?

We're booked on the Legend, Empress deck port side heading for Grand Cayman from Tampa. Heading South that means we would have sunrise and morning sun on our side of the ship.

Can anyone tell me can you get "good" sun on your patio for any real length of time?

And that 'sun' down yonder way, is a much 'hotter' one than the one up North here..

I had what I thought was a good base tan a few years back, only to find out on the journey from Key West to Cozumel that "I was mistaken".. OUCH..:(
