Transportation Crown Bay to Magens Bay?

We will be in St Thomas in March on the Crown Princess with friends. 8 people total. We were thinking of doing some shopping in Charlotte Amalie, and maybe going to Magens' Bay or another beach. What is the best and/or least expensive way to do this? Taxis, or is there a bus you can take? How long is the walk from Crown Bay to Charlotte Amalie/main shopping area? Is it possible to do a sightseeing taxi trip, ending at Magens' Bay? Cost/pp? Is the beach at Water Island nice? We are looking for ideas on what to do in the area. We have been to St John before, so think we will not do a trip to there this time.

A taxi to Charlotte Amalie from Crown Bay will be $4 pp, ow. To Magens Bay you will need to take a taxi, the public buses don't go to Magens. Taxi from Charlotte Amalie to Magens will be $8 pp, ow.
