Cleaning/disinfecting snorkel gear

Hello, I will be renting equipment to use when I get to the beach. Can you recommend a "final" cleaning that I can do to the mouthpiece before using it?

If you are that concerned, why not buy one for yourself? You can buy a good dry snorkel with purge at about $20 + shipping. Most places won't rent dry snorkels and maybe semi-dry at best. So by buying one you know whose mouth(s) it has been to and it can be a good dry snorkel.

I have two snorkel sets. One I bought at Academy, the other at Wal Mart.

The Wal Mart set was much better!!

I also know that it has only been in my mouth!!!!!!!
