oreoero Posted January 14, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2007 I've read a lot about the painfully slow internat access on the grand...does anyone know if there are internet cafes in Majahual, Roatan, Belize and Palya del Carmen? Thanks in advance.
westwind6371 Posted January 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2007 Hi OREOREO; I would not get to excited about internet speed until you try it out. The last five years we have traveled on Princess and I have used the internet cafes on board on each trip. Normally it is reasonable (I have high speed cable at home) and usually not any worse than a normal dial-up. Yes, there are some times that they lose the signal, but come back in an hour and everything is fine. Unless you are doing a ton of work or trying to run a business from the ship, you probably won't have much of a problem, I haven't. fair winds Dave

Thanks in advance. In mid december the internet access on the Grand was turned over to MTN. Reliability and speed is much better but does depend on atmospherics and the number of users on. On a normal day you should have somewher around DSL speed.
FredS Posted January 14, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2007 The ships internet is alright for short sessions. Check the prices against shore based cybercafes. You can check this site: http://cybercaptive.com/ they list cybercafes around the world. There is also another site I use but lost the bookmark apparently.
