bola Posted January 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Any information on the ferry to St Bart? How far is the terminal from where our cruise ship docks?
mommybunny21 Posted January 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2007 I can't tell you about the distance from ship to fery as I took this trip as a vacationer on St.martin. What I can tell you is that it is very rough. They actually handed out barf bags when we boarded..it was horrible for a lot of people..it didn't bother me
The Big Booper Posted January 16, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2007 We stayed on the island for a week-long vacation twice. Each time we were warned off the St. Barths ferry because of the barf bag situation. The currents between the 2 islands are very rough Here is a link to a zoomable map of the island. http://www.stmartinstmaarten.com/map/psmap0198.pdf

kal Posted February 16, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 16, 2007 St. Barth's is a very interesting and somewhat unique island. The crossing can indeed be difficult but it depends on wind and sea conditions. The return trip is most often very nice. The island is VERY EXPENSIVE so be ready. It's a French island therefore the vast majority of restaurants and shops are closed from about Noon to 2:00pm. My suggestion is to explore St. Maarten and wait on St. Barths until you have more time and MONEY.
212cruiser Posted February 17, 2007 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2007 You can also fly to St. Bart's. It's about 10 minutes, and no barfing. We took the luxury catamaran and it was no better than the boat; at least 75% of the passengers became ill going over, fewer coming back. If you are absolutely certain that you're the type of person who never becomes sea-sick it won't be a problem for you. If you don't yet know that, don't go by boat. You'll have an absolutely terrible time and a great cost. Fly instead (you'll love the landing!).
nsbee Posted February 18, 2007 #8 Share Posted February 18, 2007 I have done the trip several times over the years.. Sometimes it's rough; sometimes it is not. It all depends on the wind and the weather..
