carnival price compared to compete?

TA's refund some of their commission to get your business. Carnival doesn't.

With any quote you get from a TA, you should verify it includes all taxes, fees, etc.

For my 2 cabins, Carnival wanted over 4300. I got it through TA for 3,700. Since then, price has only increased. PVP's were very nice, but they just couldn't compete with TA

Many of the so-called "discount" websites do not include port fees, taxes, and their own fees in the advertised price. Once these are added back in, the price is much closer to Carnival's price. Like the above poster said, always ask for the bottom line before making comparisons.
