Someone on here just did an awesome review over the past few days. Try searching for it.

We are sailing the Paradise on Monday for the first time and I will give a full report when I get back!

We're going the 12th of February, first time for us also...how do I do a search

We took the Paradise the week of President's birthday (mid-Feb) 2006 for the midweek 4 night cruise and we had a great time. We especially enjoyed the late night shows, usually standup comedy (yes, the late show is the blue show). The revues were also really good - much better than the ones we saw on a Princess cruise a few years back. Maybe they are drawing from the L.A. talent pool.

We brought our daughter who was 1 year old at the time. She was too young to go to the camp but they did take her for late-night babysitting ($6/hour) which was great for us because we had a night out every night. There were tons of kids on that cruise because a lot of kids apparently got that week off from school, so Carnival added extra kids activities apparently. If you don't want to see kids you should dine at the late seating.

The big drawback was the food, which we thought ranged between lousy (breakfast) to edible (dinner), but never delicious. (The one surprisingly good item on the breakfast menu was the smoked fish - go figure.) But that was pretty much what we were expecting given the ultra-low price so we were not disappointed. So we went out for tacos in Ensenada which were tasty. Also the weather was sunny but colder than we would have liked. I tried the waterslide but the water was very cold.

Hints: the spa has very wierd and absurdly expensive treatments but we got basic 1-hour deep tissue massages at a day spa in Catalina for about $65 pp. It was one of the best I have had. It's 1 block from the port across the street from Vons. Also, you can't bring booze onto the ship but you can bring food and non-alcoholic beverages. We went shopping at Vons for provisions so we didn't have to use the mini-bar or the $7 bottle of water in the room. (You could do this in catalina or in LA.) Also, you can walk from the ensenada cruise port into the tourist section of town very easily, despite what they tell you there. It's about 3/4 mile.

In general we were very happy with the cruise and we are going on another one soon but we would have enjoyed a few more days. It's a relaxing and fun vacation, not an adventurous or educational one. If you have any more specific questions please ask - you might be interested in certain things that I did not discuss. I will try to check back soon.

Also just got off the Paradise on the 19th of Jan.

Ship's decor is more warm and inviting than her sister ships the Fantasy or Sensation. Featuring a subtle wood tone throughout. The CD was Michael and the service and food were very good.

Any other questions I would be happy to answer

Ray, I'm thinking about taking a last-minute 4-day cruise out of LA on January 29. As this wasn't a "planned for" cruise, I don't have extra $ to spend on excursions, etc. As this is a trip for relaxing, I'd be happy to be on deck much of the time, but I wonder, is it warm this time of year? I looked on the Carnival cruise site, and it says the high for Catalina Island and Ensenada is around 65. That doesn't seem very warm to me.

Thank you!

Teresa

It is somewhat warm during the day, but at night it gets quite chilly as well as the AM.

I didn't do any excursions from the ship either, just when I got to Catalina I took the 50 minute scenit city tour. And the shopping shuttle in Ensenada. We all wore jackets the whole time. Nothing like the Caribbean.

The hot tub got lots of use on the ship as people dipped in the pool then ran to the hot tub, did not see too many sun bathers though.

The rate was too good to pass up and I promised my mom a trip for her 60h birthday so just us girls are going. I live in San Diego and have been to Ensenada and Catalina a lot. I would NOT expect it to be warm enough to sunbath. We have been having unusually cold weather this month and Ensenada and Catalina are both in the same climate patern.

However, for the price, it looks like we'll have a good time. We know it will be chilly so we are planning on being decedant and staying up late and sleeping in late. Basically we just want the cabin serive, 24 hour room serive, casino, piano bar and someone to cook and clean up after us. We are both super busy single mom's and she is raising a grandchild so we will make the most of the trip and enjoy!

Hi, I booked this cruise last week at $179pp, inside guarantee. I couldn't find the 159pp rate listed on carnival or any other website. I did however, call Carnival and say that I knew the past guest rate had dropped. They confirmed that it did and offered me an OBC staying in an inside, or an 8 catergory upgrade to an 6D oceanview mid-ship. I took the upgrade. Thanks so much for posting the 159 past guest price! Please let me know where to look for those. Thanks!

I just went to Carnival's website & put in date & past guest # & codr DP3. Rate was $159 for best available inside. I checked today & website said cruise was not available (full I guess). I check almost everyday.
