What is a reasonable Tip for Charlie Soto

Hello,

 

My husband and I are taking Charlie Soto's A 2 tour. The cost is $89 per person. What would be a reasonable tip amount for the tour escort? In addition do you tip the zip line company seperately? How does this all work? I don't want to carry any extra cash if I don't need to.

Tip of of course based on service, so it may vary.

 

But I did one of his tours a few weeks ago -- personally if the price were $89 each, I would have given him $100 each.

 

We didn't do the zip line with him, we did the A1 tour which I think is the same thing without the zip line stop. I tipped $10 per person. Also on the canal tour I tipped the boat drive something like $10 total for my wife and I. It's all based on service though, do what you think they earned.

We did the same as mentioned above, $100 per person to the tour guide. We also gave a tip of $10 to the boat driver. Also a couple of bucks to the man that we stopped to talk with, he had a pet monkey, that we were allowed to pet and photograph. You should only need a bit for a lunch stop, then there will be stopping at the grocery store if you wish to purchase items there, and of course allow enough to buy a few souvenirs if you wish. The amount of cash to bring along is all relative to what you wish to do. I think about $150 PP is about what we went through.

In our case it was a could of $2 bills (I bring $2's for tips) for the kids w/ a 3 toed sloth on the side of the road rather then a monkey :)

 

 

Mary Louise -- Yes, the boat driver was tipped on the side (he also stopped so that we could get pictures w/ a croc and some turtles that someone had caught, we gave the little girl that caught them a few bucks too).

We stopped at a corner grocery store in town, just before arriving back at the dock, it was very convenient for us. If I remember right the coffee came in bags that were nearly 2 lbs. ea. We were advised by our guide and others to go with a brand named "1820", not quite as strong as some others. I think that we paid about $2 per bag. Once home we found that we needed to cut down the amount used to about 3/4 of the amount that we would normally use. DW also wanted to buy some vanilla as she uses it while cooking, a bottle was about 1/3 of what we would pay for it here. Also, US dollars were just fine everywhere, no problems at all.

We gave a bag of coffee to the staff at our doctor's office, you would have thought that we presented them with a bar of gold or something, they still go on about it even though it is now gone.

The cost was $49 per person for the general tour, $40 per person for the zip lining and we gave the tour guide $11 for a tip making the total cost of the tour $100 per person. We also gave an additional few dollars tip to the man with the monkey as we were able to pet and photograph it, and also a tip to the kids on the river with the small animals for us to touch and to photograph.

Nope, he doesn't have a credit card machine that he carries around with him. Cash only and everybody will be smiling after the tour.
