Nassau Snorkeling and Atlantis

Hello,

We will be in Nassau from 10am-7pm. Do you think it's possible to visit Atlantis from 10am-Noon and then go snorkeling for the rest of the afternoon with Stuart Cove? How far away is Atlantis? How long does it take to explore?

On that note, is snorkeling better in Nassau or Grand Turk?

Any advice. Thanks.

We did the Stuart Cove snorkel trip in Oct-05 (fantastic by the way) and if I recall we had to be AT the meeting point at noon which means you'd probably have to leave Atlantis no later than 11:00-11:15 to be certain you're at the meeting point on time. If 10:00 is when you can get off the ship you probably wouldn't be at Atlantis any sooner than 10:30-10:45 (suggest a land taxi, not water taxi for someone who's in a hurry) which doesn't give you enough time to see Atlantis (and there's sometimes delays with the ship being cleared in Nassau which means a delay in getting off the ship, that happened on our cruise).

I wanted to go to Atlantis on that same cruise and I knew there wasn't time to do both so we did a little shopping in the morning instead, brought our stuff back to the ship, had lunch and then went to the meeting point. We did a second Bahamas cruise last month and this time we spent the whole afternoon at Atlantis (booked a room at Comfort Suites). We had a great time but we loved the Stuart Cove trip too, glad we got to do both on two different cruises.

The good thing is that you can see Atlantis off in the distance from the dock so there are picture opportunities.

Thanks for your response. Stuart Cove offered to pick us up from Atlantis. Do you think it would take more than an hour to look around Atlantis?

On a side note, have you snorkeled in Grand Turk? We are having difficulty deciding between Nassau and Grand Turk.

Can you do Atlantis in an hour? Sure, you just quit when you run out of time. There is a lot to see. Go in Royal Towers, the main entrance and asked to be picked up at the Coral Towers entrance, the middle tower. That way you don't have to back track. This will let you see the nonpaying, public part of the aquarium, take you through gift shop area, casino, more shops, and Coral Towers lobby.
