Hooking up a dvd player??

Recommended Posts

We are going to be going on the Splendour of the Seas and I was wondering if anyone knew if we are able to attach DVD players to the TV's via Audio/Video cables from OUT on DVD to IN on TV. (Match colors of cables red to red, yellow to yellow, etc.)

Thanks

This was brought up a while ago. I believe the final resolution was that Most of the ships do not have anything but a coaxil hookup on their tvs (coaxil = cable screw on type) Some of the newer TV's have RCA (red yellow white) hookups. To be safe I would go to Walmart and by a RCA to Coaxil converter. ( got one for $12) This will allow you to plug in any RCA cable Device into ANY TV. (Every TV has at least the coaxil input). My in-laws have a time share and bring it everywhere no problems yet.

Now all that being said your on a cruise, who has time for a movie:eek: ?

Thanks for all the info... I am going to go and buy one of those converters, but I am also going to bring my small portable DVD player. Not just a DVD player for like the house like I was thinking about bringing. We have a really really small one that is nice. Oh well.

Good luck, and shop around for the converters they range from $12 to $50 and all do the same thing.

Technically called a "RCA to RF Modulator"

Oh and bring a plug expander, you will need one plug for the converter box and one for DVD player, there may not be enough space without one.

We tried this solution (RCA to RF modulator) on both the Radiance of the Seas and the Jewel of the Seas. Unfortunately it did not work as none of the TV's were capable of being tuned to channels 2,3, or 4. :(
