Mike Henigan Posted June 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2004 Hello, We are considering doing a Helmet Dive in St Thomas. Can anyone tellme what this experience is like? How strenuos is it? I wear glasses and am unable to see without them and I don't snorkel very well, so I thought this might be something I'd enjoy. pathubia Posted July 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2004 Mike, my daughter wears glasses too and we did a helmet dive in Bermuda, it was great. She was able to see everything as well as the rest of us. We have booked the same Helmet Dive operator for next month in Bermuda again. mtfasls Posted July 23, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2004 We did the helmet dive in St. Thomas, it was great. Your face will never get wet as long as you don't bend over. It is not strenuous at all.
Commodore Suzy Posted July 24, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2004 My husband and I did a helmet dive in Tahiti and it was THE BEST EXCURSION EVER. Even though the companies and the sights vary, I'm sure the experience will be great wherever this is offered! Book it! You'll have a great time! azcruiselover Posted March 13, 2005 #7 Share Posted March 13, 2005 A helmet dive is a whte plastic (looks like a space ship item) helmet that rests on your sholders with an air line attached- that is at the surface I believe, for completely snorkel free -almost scuba diving wihtout the cert's, where you can go to a depth of 20ft and walk effortlessly at the bottom... Hope that helps!
