West coast beach for the day???

Hello :) Any recommendations for a west coast beach easily accessible by taxi from the cruise ship pier. We like a sandy beach that is good for swimming as well as walking, and we'd like to have access to a lounge chair and umbrella rental. A hotel with facilities accessible to the public would work, as would a public beach with facilities. Many thanks for all advice.
