Cape Liberty-Newark Departure Times

Recommended Posts

I am booked on the Explorer to Bermuda in Sept. & have the choice of booking air out of Newark at either 11:50 am or 3:10 pm. Does anyone that has cruised out of Cape Liberty think that we would be fine with the 11:50 flight or should we wait until later in the day? Thanks for your help!:)

You should be fine, but why not check with RCI to see what the earliest time that they recommend is? They are usually quite conservative so you probably can book a flight that leaves an hour or so earlier than they recommend, but at least you will have some point of reference. Before your last day on the ship, you will get a form asking you for your flight information. With that information available they should schedule your debarkation time to allow you to make your flight without a problem.:)

It shouldn't be a problem getting off the ship in time for the earlier flight but on my Bermuda cruise last Oct. from Bayonne, we had to wait until they found two people that needed to go thru immigration first and it held everything up. No one was allowed to get off until the two people reported to immigration. After numerous announcements in every language possible they finally threatened to fine them 1000.00 each if they did not report in 10 minutes and sure enough they did and we could finally start getting off the ship. It was no big deal for us as we do not live far from the port but I'm sure people missed flights that morning. After waiting on the ship for the two people, when they announced we could finally leave people just seemed to rush off in no order so traffic in the port was jammed up. Newark airport is very close but the traffic is very heavy as its the NYC area although it's lighter midmorning but it would only take one accident to hold things up. It's a tough call to make but if there are no problems, 11:50 SHOULD be fine. :o
