Easy half day tour in Belize?

The only 1/2 day tours I know of are the snorkel excursions booked thru the cruise line. Most are 3 1/2 hours long. Possibly the beer factory tour might also be short but its usually combined with other sites so it maybe longer.

Bannister Island is a small, private island with no inhabitants other than the caretaker. Purely developed for ships' shore excursions. Very pretty but mainly set up for sunbathing/swimming. There is a sand volleyball court, floats, bar, and some food (hamburgers/fries). (It may have been possible to book a shore excursion for the island that included snorkeling as well but I'm not certain of that.)

Our excursion was 3 hours, if I remember correctly. Since we tendered in Belize, the excursion boat picked us up directly from the ship and took us to the island. Our excursion was 8:30 am - 11:30 am. Upon returning to the ship, we tendered into town and had a couple of hours to look around. We didn't, however, venture further from the port area so I'm not sure what else there is to do in town.

I tried to edit to add something to the above post but the edit feature wasn't cooperating so I'll post again. :)

The excursion was a *fixed* return time. The boat ride was somewhere between 30 and 40 minutes.

Hope that helps.

Gilbert Young has a kiosk inside the fence (in front of a restaurant called the Wet Lizard~~these names???)

He is a licensed tour operator who can show you as much (or as little) of Belize as you would like to experience.

When you get off the tender, his kiosk is to the right.

Or you can email him at gillytours@yahoo.com and give him an idea of what you would like to do and he gave give you the price range.

He is an older gentleman ( I would guess 50) ...very knowledgable and nice.

I just got an email from him. He said he had added a zipline excursion with Donald. But Gilly (that is what we call him) handles more of the "touring" excursions.

Have a great cruise and a wonderful experience in Belize.
