vettecindy Posted January 31, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2007 We are crusing on the Dawn in March and my DH needs a wheelchair in the event there is too much walking for him to handle. We were going to bring one with us but after reading all the posts of the hassles involved at the pier and such we looked into renting one for the trip We found a company that rents them and will deliver them and have them in our Penthouse room when we arrive. The chair is then left in the room at the end of the cruise and they pick it up for you. If you go to Carevacations.com you can get all the information and call for what you need. They were very friendly and the procedure was easy. I hope this is helpful to those that need this type of ease and service. Beats struggling with our own. Happy Cruising!! Jana Posted January 31, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2007 I wish that the moderator had left this where you originally posted it! I was just looking on that Website this morning. Can you give me some idea of the cost? I was looking at the lightweight scooter... Thanks!
Sashalanda Posted January 31, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2007 You really can save a ton of money though if you purchase one out of local papers used...the kind that can be folded. Those rental places charge an arm and a leg. You can attach a luggage tag to the wheelchair and it will be taken with your other luggage to your room. I would suggest etching your name into it or use a strong real luggage tag..not just the vacation cruise paper tag for safety. They get delivered in excellent shape in my experience anyway and the airlines also will take them as baggage and you aren't charged for the weight of them. I am just appalled at what these rental places want to charge and am hoping if enough ppl back off of using them..they lower the prices some.
