Luggage and Upgrade at Pier Question

Ok so I have this pipe dream of being able to get an upgrade at the pier (I know, I know, I'm sick in the head that way...hehe). Anyway, lets say that the stars do align and that I get to purchase an upgrade. My understanding is that pier coordinator is inside which means I will have already dropped my bags off at the curb to the porter with my luggage tags reading my original stateroom.

 

My question is, if I do upgrade, how does my luggage find me?

The two times I got a pier upgrade I told my cabin steward and he brought my luggage to me.

 

My son went and got his from out in front of the door of his "old" cabin.

On our last cruise we got an upgrade without even asking and jsut went to the old cabin when they started putting out luggage and some was there, so we got it and told the steward at that area. Went back bythe room shortly thereafter and our last bag was there.:)
