casper41 Posted February 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2007 Recommendation please: Native way or Captain Marvin? We would like to get to know the island also? Can we do this on foot near the pier or are there other places we should see?
S&M in Pgh Posted February 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2007 My wife and our friends went with Nativeway and really enjoyed themselves. No experience with Capt Marvin, but I do know that they have larger boats with more people. Mike
golfer1966 Posted February 5, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2007 and never had a problem. The guides were nice and helpful and the boat was clean. I would use them again if we decided to go there again.
june1300 Posted February 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2007 we did capt marvins in august had several kids...Capt marvins was great very patient, helped the kids see where the barbs are on the stingrays so they didnt freak every time they were touched.... I would definatly use them again oh pack some milkbone biscuts for snorkling....DS found one in his snorkle gear from a previous snorkling expidetion, and he was the center of all the attention, he was all over the video capt marvins guide made. the fish just loved the dog bone!!! Luvsnorkeling Posted February 8, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 8, 2007 Captain Marvin is a native of Cayman and is the man who first discovered Sting Ray City many years ago and made it popular. Now in his 90s, he's been at this for years. He still often shows up to pilot the boat himself. He runs a great tour. We took it on our honeymoon 18 1/2 years ago. We went back 2 years ago, and the captain himself piloted our boat again. We told him our story and got a picture with him. Who on Cayman knows more about the reefs and the sting rays than Captain Marvin?
Luvsnorkeling Posted February 8, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2007 Of course, Captain Marvin has a crew that he's trained who help him. It's not just you and a 90 year old man alone in the ocean. :-)
