AlexOk Posted February 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2007 Are parts of Seven Mile beach private? Do some of the hotels fence off areas or can you take a LONG walk on the beach back towards the ship without a problem??? Thanks!!!!
drew sailbum Posted February 6, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2007 The beach is Crown property (and thus public) from the waterline to the "mean high water mark" (which is the point that high tides reach under normal conditions). Basically, where it looks lke the sand has been wet from the waves you can consider it to be truly public. If you are just strolling through and not causing a disturbance, generally hotels and condo owners don't really mind if you are technically on "their" portion of the beach. Even the Governor's House is right on the beach and you can stroll by... just keep moving there and don't choose that as your place to camp out for the day. And several places with amenities for the public don;t mind at all if you do set up there for the day. They can rent you a chair, sell you food and drink, and generally try to get you to spend your money however they can.
