Glory Review

Okay it has taken me a while to be able to write my review. One point of advice dont ever fly when you are getting a cold. I messed up my ears pretty bad on the flight home. Okay on to the review.

We did a back to back on the Glory Jan 13th and the 20th sailing. On the 13th sailing our ports were Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize, and Nassau.

Cozumel was great like usual, we booked a deep sea fishing excursion on our own with Island Marketing Ltd, they were great. Thomas and Charly were there waiting for us, and all six of us boarded the boat. Long story short hubby caught a trophy wahoo and yes we are getting it mounted.

Costa Maya, this was our first time to this port, and we like it. We went to Taquila beach and spent the day there, hubby and BIL went jet skiing. They had a mayian show while we were there as well.

Belize, first time here as well. Personally it will be my last too. I did not like it at all. The ruins were nice to see, but the city tour was lame. Yes I realize third world country, have been to many of them but belize is just nasty. The people are really agressive, hubby was approached for just about everything even a woman with me standing there. Neeedless to say we got out of there and never looked back.

Nassau, we have been to Freeport last year so we were expecting the same thing. HMmm was I wrong, I soo much liked this one better. Did the city tour and Atlantis too. Boooked with a cab driver outside named Charlie Brown...get him he was great!!! Basically did four tours that the ship offered for 25 bucks each. Of course we gave a huge tip as he was great.

The shows on this cruise were pretty good. Our cruise director was Dana, he was pretty funny too. The illusionist was reallly good and the one comedian named Happy Cole was hillarious. The other just wasnt too funny in my opinion. Our wait staff in the dining room was really good, cant remember her name and it is driving me nuts. We did not really like our window where we were sitting during the first cruise so we talked to the MD Robert and he switched us for the second cruise for a back window.

The second cruise we cruised to Nassau, St. Thomas and St Martin

Nassau, well considering we were just there the day before hubby and I layed out by the pool while the rest of our family went into town to go shopping.

St Thomas, dissappointed me, it was the one island I could not wait to see. When we got off the ship we figured we would do the same thing and hire a cab to take us around the island for a tour. Well for one he drove like a maniac honking at every corner...this is to let the others know he is there and not to drive into him. Our tour consisted our look to your left there is a marina look to your right there is a bla bla bla and so on. finally we stopped at a mountain top which was the highest point for 10 mins and here we could see Megans bay. We say this and decided that is where we wanted to go at this point. I told the driver I wanted to see the 99 steps and black beards castle ect and he told me no it is closed. Dont have a clue if that was true or not. Then he charged us 50 bucks for that tour...wow were we choked. He dropped us off at Megans bay and there we spent the rest of the day. We like it hear, great food and the water was fun to play in. Hubby even caught me on camera being swallowed by a wave on shore that darn near drown me. All in his entrainment I guess. LOL

St Martin...let me just say I can not wait to go back there. We loved the people the island the water everything. We did a little island tour but the heat was not agreeing with me I wanted to swim, so we ditched the rest of the trip while our family stayed with the tour we jumped off at Orient Beach. Hubby went jet skiing again while I swam. I will say yes the beach is full of people but really it doesnt seem that crowded as you lay there. Shopping down town was great too. I was told by others who had done the eastern itinerary that st martin is the place to by jewellery. Well did we buy and buy. I loved this island!!

Our cruise director for this cruise was Weee Jimmy. Our room stewarts were very good I will miss them picking up after me. Since I was on vacation yes I was a little bit of a slob lol!!

Over all we had a great time, would we go on the Glory again, definately. The staff were all friendly and all almost recognized us for the second cruise. Cant wait to go again!!

Have fun all future cruisers!!

Thanks for your observations. I'm planning on doing the same back to back on the Glory, in the same order (Western, then Eastern) in November.

I'm personally more interested in the itinerary for the first half. I figure I'll do lots of shore excursions in the first half, and then more lounging around in the second half.

Thanks to this board, I've learned lots of helpful tips and suggestions, and I found your review valuable. I've got a balcony booked for the first half, but I'm thinking that I can muddle by with an outside for the second half. ;) Anyone got any feedback on if I'd be disappointed by "downsizing" for the second half?

We felt the way you did about St. Thomas v. St. Maarten. Loved, loved, loved St. Maarten. Friendly people, beautiful scenery, good bargains.

In St. Thomas we stopped in at a small, local bar/restaurant. The owner/bartender was transplanted from New Bedford, MA. Had Red Sox and Patriots banners and hats all over the place. He told us that there is no law against drinking and driving on St. Thomas, you just have to be wearing a seat belt:eek:. Our tour driver was reckless also.

Sapphire Beach was beautiful once we made it there in one piece.:p

Well I must say we did not feel rushed to do anything. Two weeks on a cruise ship is a long time. I figured I would be cruised out by the end, well i wasnt. We stayed in an outside cabin for both cruises, infact we didnt need to change rooms at all which is nice. The day you start your next cruise all that are doing it get escorted off for about half an hour to go through customs and register for second cruise. I did not want the hastle of packing and unpacking for both cruises so the one room for both was great. My family that came with us did the same.

I really enjoyed the eastern side more than the western, but maybe that is because it was new to us. We have always done the western. I cant wait to see more of the eastern side of the caribbean.

I had to laugh about one thing, the warm chocolate melting cake is on the menu everyday.....yes it is good but so rich with choc you cant finish it. Because we did the second cruise, we also pre ordered for the second formal night creme brulee. LOVE IT!! That night the MD surprised us with a bottle of wine for our table. None of the past cruises has this happened before!

I forgot to mention quite alot so if anyone has any questions fire away! One thing that did bother me..the chocolate buffet...did not realize how many chocoholics there are out there. By the time we got to the front of the line just about everything was gone. Whats up with that???
