NCL Spirit -- Samana

Hi-

I already checked the ports of call and excursion pages and can't seem to find any answers... Thought I would try here. We will be on the 4/7 sailing of Spirit out of NYC

The limited info I read about Samana (a new port in DR) isn't so great. My husband and I booked a ship excursion (a cave/forest/mangrove tour) but now I am having second thoughts because I have read it's not a safe place...

Any experiences?

Thanks! Lauryn

Just a thought. D/H and I spent our honeymoon in Samana nearly 10 years ago. We never felt unsafe there, but then again, so much can change in that span of time. You may want to contact the resort we stayed at called Gran Bahia (an Occidental resort) and see if you might be able to get a day pass there. When we were there it was very nice.
