happyvalley Posted February 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2007 We're getting off our Diamond Princess cruise in Los Angeles (San Pero) in the morning but our flight out of LAX isn't until 6 p.m. Renting a car one way is prohibitive, so we're open to suggestions on productive use of this time rather than sitting in the airport. Many thanks!

Many thanks! ~~~ a few things to do near the port - - Queen Mary tour - If your into ghost tales of a haunted ship! - The Long beach aquarium - very nice as far as aquariums go. - Ports 'o Call - if your into touristy shopping than you can catch a taxi or shuttle to the airport. There are also some tour companies that do driving tours of LA, Hollywood areas and will make stops at places like Rodeo drive or Mann's Chinese theatre. Don't know if they will pick you up one place and drop you off somewhere else but I don't see why not ( It's usually like a limo or van service that do these tours so they should take you where you want to go-- this may be a bit pricey though!) Nancy & Don Posted February 15, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2007 Last year my wife and I sailed to Hawaii and back with Celebrity out of San Pedro. We were able to book an LA tour through Celebrity. At least 8 different buses left the dock area marked as 'LA tour.' The buses coordinated stops and routes extremely well, or tour guides decided where to go with their groups. We only saw one other bus at one stop. We visited the Hollywood Bowl, Kodak Theatre, Chinese Theatre with handprints, etc., the Farmers Market, etc. We also stopped at an interesting 'old town' plaza across the street from the LA train station, drove past the Disney building, city hall, and other sites of interest. We were the earliest flight on our bus. The tour guide got the bus and us to the airport with exactly enough time to get our luggage, check in, and report to the gate. I think we waited only about 10 minutes to board. We felt the tour was worth the price asked, and was better than spending the morning and half the afternoon sitting in the airport. And . . . the tour groups were the first to be released from the ship-another plus. Hope this helps. Don
happyvalley Posted February 15, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted February 15, 2007 Thanks Nancy & Don! For some reason Princess does not offer tours in LA after the ship returns. We took the Houson Space Center tour in Galveston last December and recommend that. Plus, it serves as a shuttle back to the Houston airports.
