Jareen Posted February 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2007 My daughter turns 18 a couple weeks before our next cruise. I am told by Princess she can not go in the teen club. If you have cruised with your kids at this age could you let me know how it went. I'm worried she'll be a little lost without a specific place to go hang out with kids her own age. Thanks! GeneHunter Posted February 15, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2007 A day at the pool and she'll have a group of friends and won't have enough time to visit with you. :)
Jacqueline Posted February 15, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2007 This is my daughter's last year in the teen club after 7 years of cruising. By the time the teens get older they seems to make friends pretty quickly with the college age kids- the pool is a good meeting place. The older teens that have aged out of the programs but are not yet 21 seem to find each other pretty fast, if they are sociable.
AZPam Posted February 15, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2007 Princess will usually have a get together the first night on board for the 18-20 year old age group. There are usually a few who will attend so maybe she can meet some new people there. It's worth a try anyway. I have 2 in this age group and they have kind of felt left out at times. Too old for the teen club, not old enough to be in the casino. They are allowed up in the disco but be sure she brings some ID as they will card at night. If you are really worried about her, maybe she can ask a friend to come along?
serfergurl Posted February 15, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2007 I've cruised with this age group (nieces). They were a little worried that they would be bored, but when they saw someone their age they would just ask them where they were from to meet people. I was amazed at how quickly they all found each other. I don't know where they hung out during the day (probably sleeping), but late at night they were definitely around making their own party. I've heard that this age group causes the most problems on ships, but I have never ever come across anyone in that 18-20 group that were any problem and I quite enjoy meeting and talking to them on my late night wanderings around the ship!! One evening my nieces told them it was my birthday and a group of about 20 of them all sang Happy Birthday to me...it made my day!!
TwinCruiserMom Posted February 15, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2007 My 17 year old refuses to go to the teen club and hang around with 13 and 14 year olds since she is too mature for that:rolleyes: (ha, ha) I am sure there will be plenty of teens in that age group hanging out at the pool or the sports deck areas.
