Cell Phones in GC? Verizon?

Will my Verizon cell work? What is the damage when you get home and read the bill?

I seriously doubt it. Generally speaking, you need a "real" carrier when you leave the US. Sooner you realize your overpaying for service that doesn't work anywhere or anyhow you want it to, the better.

I went to the Verizon web site and they sent me the instructions on how to download international dialing on my phone; but it is expensive on the islands and in Mexico you have to pay for their cell charges too! I don't think I will use it when I am out of the country

I was wondering if Cingular is any better? What kind of costs in the islands and Mexico?
