Robbo1 Posted July 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2004 DW is interested in renewing our vows when we are on the PG. Can anyone tell me about the ship's renewal ceremony? What is the ceremony like and when/where do they have it?
thulewx Posted July 29, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2004 There are 2 types of ceremonies - one is for all honeymooners & anniversaries on the back of the ship, by La Palette - pretty generic. The extra-cost renewal of vows ceremony is semi-private, for the guests and their invitees, held on the Sun deck the afternoon at Moorea, and includes a cake, champagne, the Captain officiating, reading of the vows, and photos, with bride getting flower crown and groom getting lei made of Tiare flowers (gardenia-like). After the vows, the cake and champagne is served in a mini-reception. I went to one on my trip in June - it was very touching and the backdrop of Moorea is incredible (pic at: pg pix ). :D
Robbo1 Posted July 29, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted July 29, 2004 Thanks Thulewx. A few more questions: Is the semi-private ($200) ceremony done the first or second afternoon in Moorea? Does it conflict with shore excursions? Do I need to sign up for this now (via the little order before you go card in my travel documents) or can I book it once on board? thulewx Posted July 30, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2004 I THINK the ceremony was the second afternoon - they may be able to change it if it conflicts with an excursion, since it doesn't involve a large amount of crew or staff members. As far as signing up early - I have no idea, but it would seem to me that signing up on board would be possible.
Charsie Posted July 31, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2004 My husband and I enjoyed our "Renewal of Vows" ceremony on board the PG last September. We booked the ceremony on board the ship, the evening we boarded. Our ceremony was held in Bora Bora, on the first day (in the afternoon). We went ashore for a couple of hours (in fact, we had time for a drink at Bloody Mary's), and then went back to the ship, changed, and headed to the top deck for the ceremony. It was wonderful! We had a "double" ceremony, as our best friends were on board, and renewed their vows with us. The Cruise Director just amended the wording, to cover both couples. The words in the ceremony itself were very touching, very beautiful. As well, the Captain was charming, and Les Gauguines sang for us. You can't imagine the backdrop for photographs!! It was a truly magical day. We had 10 other friends on board with us, who were "guests" at the wedding, and we had a private reception in the cigar lounge afterward, complete with cheese, crackers, wine, cake, etc. We paid a bit extra for this, but when split between the two couples - no big deal. I'm SO glad we had this renewal of vows. We had wanted to get married in Bora Bora years ago, and it didn't work out, but this was everything I'd hoped it would be! Go ahead and do it, you won't regret it! Charlene
