Excursions from the Ship

We are looking at excursions that leave directly from our cruise ship. If we do one of these can we still go into the main Belize port later in the day? We wanted to do a little shopping and weren't sure if this is possible!

Look at how long your ship is in port. Usually the last tender to your ship is an hour ahead of sailing. Look at the times of the shore excursions offered and than do your math. If you pick an all day excursion you may not have time to shop. If you pick a 1/2 day excursion you will have more than enough time to shop. If you book an excursion through your ship that starts the same time you arrive in port your ship will make sure your in the first group on the tender, which is another benefit. Also if you do choose an all day shore excursion it is a good idea to book it through your ship so if your tour runs late your ship will not leave without you. This happened to us in Belize earlier this month. We were in the first group off the ship to go on the all day Xunatunich Tour. (Loved it!) Our tour ran a little late and the ship called to find out where we all were. We did not have any time to shop at the pier but we did buy a souvenir at Xunatunich. A hand carved Mayan Calendar on slate from the artist who carved it.
